Verifone takes over Westpac payment gateway

Westpac will embark on a partial outsourcing of some payments services it markets to business customers.

Verifone, a supplier of payments terminals, yesterday said the bank would "outsource the management and deployment of its entire merchant payment services offering to Verifone."

Westpac will deploy Verifone's VX 690 payment terminal and delegate customer registration, service and support to Verifone.

The bank said the extent of the telco's involvement was services "managed by the provider of the terminals. The services are front end products which include terminals at a standalone level and integrated e-commerce solutions and gateway."

Verifone have made a steady push into bank outsourcing across Asia.
