Diners Club International has notified customers in Australia that it will stop offering personal cards here at the end of January next year and that all personal accounts will close on 30 July next year. Other parts of the business are under review.
Diners Club Australia is owned by Diners Club Pty Ltd, which was acquired by NAB in June last year.
Access to supplementary and additional cards has already ended.
Card holders have until 30 July next year to redeem rewards balances. After that date, any unclaimed rewards points will be forfeited. Points that have been transferred to a Qantas Frequent Flyer account will not be affected.
Diners has set deadlines for the honouring of travel insurance.
As for the future of Diners’ local government and corporate business, Banking Day understands that NAB is working with the Department of Finance on proposed changes to the deed for the travel and procurement payment services it provides to the government.
The bank is understood to be assessing the other Diners portfolios.
