Ana Marinkovic, NAB's new group executive personal banking
NAB’s new chief executive Andrew Irvine has appointed Rachel Slade, who is reported to have been his main rival for the top job, to take over running the bank’s biggest division, business and private banking.
Slade, who has been NAB’s group executive personal banking since 2020, will move to business and private banking at the end of this month.
Business and private banking reported cash profit of $3.3 billion in 2022/23 – an increase of 10.1 per cent over the previous year. The personal banking division’s profit fell 9.1 per cent to $1.4 billion.
Irvine, who took over from Ross McEwan on April 2, has made other changes to the senior ranks.
Ana Marinkovic, who has been in charge of business direct and small business since 2020, will take over as group executive personal banking.
Cathryn Carver has been appointed group executive corporate and institutional banking. She will replace David Gall, who is leaving the bank in October.
Irvine said in a statement that the appointments complete the make-up of the executive leadership team.
Other recent management changes at the bank include the retirement of Angela Mentis, group chief digital, data and analytics officer, last November. Group chief operating officer Les Matheson added group executive digital and data to his responsibilities.
Nathan Goonan was appointed group chief financial officer in July last year, having been group executive strategy and innovation since 2020.
