After an outage lasting more than ten hours, Westpac NZ is to launch a review of its online banking and card payments systems.
In the widespread systems failure, Westpac’s website, contact centre, online banking and card services all went down on Monday afternoon, resulting in bank staff working through the night to fix the issue.
The outage delayed some benefit and superannuation payments, which also affected the customers of other banks which receive the government payments via Westpac.
“We know this is already a stressful time for many New Zealanders and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused,” said Simon Power, Westpac NZ General Manager Commercial, Corporate and Institutional Banking.
