Brief: Bank of Sydney failed to apply procedural fairness

Bank of Sydney must pay A$21,000 in compensation to an inexperienced customer service officer in lieu of reinstatement, after the Fair Work Commission found her dismissal was "harsh". The bank fired Pasqualina Repici in late 2014 following the discovery of bank documents in a security document destruction bin, some of which the bank was obliged to retain. The FWC held Repici "was not accorded procedural fairness during the disciplinary process."
