Brief: Hefty remediation bill for Westpac NZ

  • Westpac NZ is to refund more than 30,000 customers a total of NZ$5.7 million after failing to give them promised fee waivers. The bank said it had identified that the customers, who had multiple banking products, had not been receiving the proper discounts on their Access transaction accounts. The remediation includes a "compensation component".
