Briefs: DJ invests in co-brand and Handelsbanken opens

  • enDavid Jones says it has invested A$1.8 million in supporting its side of the co-branded credit card issued with American Express. The investment restricted the rise in EBIT from its financial services business, which, for now, contributes to a rise in guaranteed payments from Amex. The retailer still has more than $6 million to spend on card-related investments if its sticks to a plan outlined in March. David Jones will report genuine earnings from its cards business from 2014.
  • Handelsbanken will open a branch in Sydney, Reuters reported. The bank said there were 1400 companies in Australia with links to the bank's home market in the Nordic countries and the UK.
