Foreign news: MasterCard pays out on overcharging claim, Goldman Sachs settles mi\ortgage securities

MasterCard has paid US$61 million to Tesco to settle a claim that it overcharged the UK supermarket chain for interchange fees, Finextra reports. MasterCard chief financial officer Martina Hund-Mejean said: "We have been settling with Tesco, which is the largest claimant in this litigation. We are pleased that is behind us." Tesco was one of 20 UK retailers that filed a claim against MasterCard in 2013. More settlements are expected to follow.
Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay US$270 million to settle a mortgage securities-related lawsuit brought by an Illinois pension fund, which accused the bank of misleading investors about the risks associated with the offerings, CNBC reports.
