Greensill and NordFinanz banks making plans in Australia 29 September 2014 3:24PM Ian Rogers Major Banks UK investment bank Greensill Capital may be stepping up its interest in the Australian market.Greensill describes itself as "an independent financial services firm and principal investor group specialising in structured trade finance, working capital optimisation, speciality financing and contract monetisation."Founded in 2011 by "a seasoned team of trade finance specialists" trained at US banks, the firm earlier this year "recapitalised and acquired a majority shareholding" in German private bank NordFinanz Bank AG. Greensill Capital (UK) is the bank holding company of NordFinanz Bank AG.Greensill is now seeking trade mark protection in Australia, possibly as a preliminary step to a widening of its interests.Queensland brothers Lex Greensill and Peter Greensill are the founders and remain key staff.Peter is "a leading agribusiness owner and operator in Queensland," according to the firm biography. Melon production is one interest.
