NAB lifts business lending premium

National Australia Bank increased its one lending "premium" for mid to large-sized businesses by 18 basis points, the Financial Review reported.

The AFR reported that the "liquidity premium" applied to other benchmark lending rates for these classes of borrowers would rise to 1.13 percentage points from 0.95 percentage points.

The newspaper quoted Jospeh Healy, head of business banking at NAB, saying that other banks built this level of rise into their pricing, but because of a variety of lending benchmarks this rise was not obvious.
