  • Claiming a first for the local banking market, NAB has updated its mobile app so that participating retailers can send electronic receipts automatically to the app. NAB worked with local fintech Slyp Smart Receipts on the project. The service is being offered on an opt-in basis.

  • Law Finance, which provides litigation funding, disbursement finance for law firms and personal injury finance, has appointed Daniel Kleijn as its new chief executive. Kleijn comes from an investment banking background, including senior roles at Lazard and UBS. He replaces Diane Jones, who left IMF Bentham in 2016 to take up the role of chief operating officer at LawFinance and then became CEO in 2017.

  • New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has opened consultation on the government’s plan to regulate merchant service fees on debit and credit card fees to make them "fairer and less of a burden for Kiwis and businesses". Kiwi retailers pay on average $13,000 more per year than their Australian counterparts. In the meantime, ASB has front-footed and introduced a rebate for small and medium-sized business customers until the outcome of the consultation. The rebate will be back-dated until December 1.
