Revamping history, ANZ style

The much enlarged and reconsidered ANZ Bank museum in Collins Street in Melbourne is worth a bit of time.

ANZ have fashioned a museum with 100 times the footprint of the former museum, with the new one established in the grand old gothic banking chamber, dating from 1887.

As interpretive centres go, this museum has a long way to go.

But it’s fun, and an emblem of the care on the part of many banks to respect their history and their collections and their archives.

In ANZ’s case these date right back to the beginning in 1835.
