Briefs: CBA pick business chief, Eftpos hub busy and credit access uncontroversial

  • Adam Bennett will be the new group executive, business and private banking at Commonwealth Bank, replacing Grahame Peterson who retires early next year. Prior to joining CBA, Bennett was a principal at strategic consulting practice A.T. Kearney for eight years. From 1994-1996 he was a senior consultant at Ernst & Young. Bennett will commence in his new role on 12 January 2015.
  • Eftpos said it had so far processed one million transactions through its recently introduced hub and more than 100,000 daily. Eftpos said Cuscal was also now connected the Eftpos Hub, following ANZ last week. The early adopters were Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, ING Direct, Suncorp Bank and Strategic Payments Services.
  • Only seven per cent of businesses cite access to credit as an issue for their operations in the latest survey of business expectations by Dun & Bradstreet. The most commonly listed issue was cash flow (24 per cent) and the current level of the Australian Dollar (25 per cent).
