Business confidence down, bank satisfaction follows

National Australia Bank's satisfaction rating among business customers has picked up six percentage points over the past six months, according to the latest Roy Morgan business banking report.

NAB's improved rating, which outstripped the other big banks over the six months to March, has taken it from fourth among the majors to second.

Westpac retains the highest satisfaction rating among the Big Four in the Roy Morgan survey, with a score of 67.4 per cent.

NAB has a score of 65.8 per cent, ANZ has 64 per cent and Commonwealth Bank has 63.2 per cent.

Satisfaction scores for most banks dropped in March. Roy Morgan director Norman Morris said business satisfaction was highly correlated with confidence.

Morris said: "More businesses now think it is a bad time to invest in growing their business. With businesses feeling less like borrowing in these uncertain times a drop in satisfaction is likely to be one of the outcomes."
