DOS attack on CBA reaches third day

Commonwealth Bank yesterday confirmed there was a malicious attack on its Netbank service. Tuesday was the third day of the attack.

The bank said no customer accounts were compromised .

The Netbank service has been intermittently offline for two days as a result of what now appears to be a massive denial of service attack (where hackers overwhelm a website with requests for information).

"We are currently experiencing exceptionally high volumes of traffic, some of which appears to be malicious," CBA spokesperson Nichole Ismay wrote in an email yesterday afternoon.

"The source and type of this is yet to be confirmed."
