NAB losing lead in business deposits

NAB and ANZ are the two banks winning more than their fair share of business deposits in the nine months since Lehman Brothers and others dragged finance asunder.

They are up 16 per cent and 12 per cent respectively in this segment.

Commonwealth, with growth of six per cent and Westpac at three per cent are sector laggards.

A few foreign banks are reporting decent growth in business deposits over this period, business that may be won largely from regional banks that are all dropping off the ace.

Citi's business deposits are up more than 200 per cent.

ING Direct's deposits are up 54 per cent; those of Laiki, 23 per cent and Arab's 16 per cent,

Bendigo Bank's reported business deposit growth is negative for a second month in a row.

Rabobank reported a drop in business deposits of 28 per cent over nine months, but has been generating growth over six-month, three-month and one-month time frames.
