Rock ready to vote over board appointments
The board of The Rock Building Society yesterday said it will defer its annual meeting by a week, to November 5, in order to cater to proposals to remove two directors and to consider the election of two new directors from Queensland Trustees and Investments.
The investment firm proposes to appoint its own managing director, Michael Hackett, and one of its non-executive directors, Kerry Daly, to the board of The Rock. Daly was managing director of The Rock for eight years until 2000.
They want shareholders to remove John Maxwell, who served on the board for 34 years, and Bradford Beasley, a director of 10 years whose law firm undertakes extensive legal work for The Rock.
