Woolworths has beefed up its financial services product portfolio, with the launch yesterday of a Qantas card.

The Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card combines Qantas Frequent Flyer membership with the Woolworths Everyday Rewards program. It is the second credit card product issued by HSBC under Woolworths branding.

The earn rate is one frequent flyer point for every dollar spent and one Everyday Rewards points for every dollar spent over $30. There is no points capping or expiry.

The card, a platinum MasterCard, is issued by HSBC. It includes the MasterCard contactless payment technology.

Woolworths head of group financial services, Dhun Karai, said a Qantas card was a logical next step for the group. Of the 5.4 million people signed up for Everyday Rewards, three million are already Qantas Frequent Flyer members.

The card has an $89 annual fee, a current interest rate of 19.99 per cent on purchases and a six month balance transfer offer at 5.9 per cent.
